Selenay Özhoşer wears red and navy for a side that spent decades not existing. Altınordu's volleyball section had its moment in the 1960s, then went quiet, and nobody restarted it until the 2022-2023 season — the club itself dates back to 1923, but that is a football-club anniversary borrowed by a team that only recently found its feet again.

What came back was built fast. Behind the first team sits an academy of more than 700 athletes across 22 youth squads, the kind of base a club puts down when it wants the return to last rather than repeat the same disappearing act. Brazilian outside hitter Samara Rodrigues has given the current roster its foreign edge, arriving as the club pushed to climb out of the lower tiers.

That push worked. Altınordu won the regular season of its 2. Lig group, then finished second in the B Group of the final stage, enough to secure promotion to the 1. Lig for 2025-2026. It is the only real mark this incarnation of the team has left so far — no cups, no continental runs, just the climb itself.

They play at the Bayraklı Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Sports Hall, a tight venue that holds 570 people, while training happens at a separate hall opened in 2023 on the İzmir Delta College campus in Bahçelievler. Locally the fixture that matters is against Karşıyaka Voleybol, billed as the İzmir Derby, the one date on the calendar where the club's own nickname — "Voleybolun Altınordu'su," the Altınordu of volleyball — gets tested against a neighbour who has never had to rebuild from nothing.

700 young players are now working toward a first team that, five seasons ago, did not exist at all.
