Amazonas

Uéslei Couto put up 55% of the money when Amazonas turned itself into a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol in 2025, and the club was founded in Manaus on 23 May 2019: not a revival of an old name but a start from nothing, built by a group that included former Nacional president Roberto Peggy and former Atlético Rio Negro director William Abreu.

Promotion came in the first year, through the 2019 Amazonense Série B title. Four years later it delivered a major result: champions of Brazil's Série C in 2023, the first national title ever won by a club from Amazonas state, and the result that pushed Amazonas into Série B. The same year brought a first Campeonato Amazonense, won against Manauara, and the state title was defended in 2025 against Nacional.

Home is the Estádio Carlos Zamith, officially seated for 6,500, though the club adds temporary stands for Série B and Copa do Brasil fixtures to lift capacity toward 10,000, and for the biggest visitors it shifts games to the Arena da Amazônia, which holds around 45,000. The colours, yellow and black, gave the club its nickname, Aurinegro, and the jaguar chosen as mascot supplied another, Onça-Pintada, alongside terrace favourites like Fúria do Norte.

None of that history carries the weight locally that a game with Nacional does. Nacional supplied one of Amazonas' own founders in Peggy, and it was Nacional that stood across from them in the 2025 state final — the fixture in Manaus that still draws the sharpest edge.
