Central Córdoba had never reached a Copa Argentina final before 2024, and when it finally did, a single goal against Vélez Sarsfield settled it: 1-0, enough to send the club into the Copa Libertadores for the first time in its history.
The badge traces back to railwaymen. Workers of the Ferrocarril Central Córdoba line founded the club on 3 June 1919 in Santiago del Estero and named it after their employer. Black and white have been the colours ever since.
Before that cup run, the honours board was built mostly on the lower divisions. Torneo Federal A came twice, in 2014 and 2017-18. Further back sits the 1985-86 promotion through Primera B Nacional and the Torneo Interior of 1986. Abel Balbo has managed the club on two separate spells.
Home games are played at the Estadio Alfredo Terrera, which holds 20,000.
Boca Juniors keeps recurring on the club's bigger nights. In 1967, goals from Marcelo Aranda and Manuel Rojas gave Central Córdoba a 2-1 win over the Buenos Aires side; during the 2024 Copa Argentina campaign that ended in the Libertadores breakthrough, Francisco González Metilli scored against them along the way.
