Fifteen Primera División titles sit in the trophy room, three from the amateur years of the 1920s and twelve since professionalism arrived in the 1930s. That same run took San Lorenzo to the final of the Club World Cup, where it finished runner-up.
The academy has sent more talent abroad than it has kept. Javier Mascherano came through it before Liverpool and Barcelona; Javier Pastore and Marcos Rojo followed similar routes out, to Palermo and Manchester United. Juan Sebastián Verón and Ezequiel Lavezzi both started at San Lorenzo before their careers took them through Boca and on to Europe. Further back, in the 1940s, René Pontoni turned down a move to Barcelona and stayed.
The blue and garnet go back to the club's earliest days in Almagro, where it was founded on 1 April 1908.
