The Bouza family started the club in Lugo in 1983, and its footprint in Spanish volleyball has as much to do with that start as with any result. Emeve Lugo is the only club in Spain with both its men's and its women's team in the top division.

The hall is the Municipal Sports Pavilion, which holds 3,500. It is large for a city the size of Lugo. The women's team played in it through their best season to date, 2022/23. In that campaign they reached the quarter-finals of the Superliga Femenina, Spain's women's top division, and of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Cup. The same season they reached the final of the Spanish Supercup and lost it, finishing as runners-up.

The club's junior side won the Copa Xunta de Galicia, the regional cup, in 2023. The senior team won the Torneo Internacional Cidade de Lugo, the city's own international tournament, the same year.
