The derbi canario is played inside one city. Heidelberg and CV Emalsa Gran Canaria both belong to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

For Heidelberg the recent seasons are where that fixture gets its weight. In 2023-24 the team reached the final of the Copa de la Reina and finished as runner-up. The following season it went one better in the league. The Liga Iberdrola title of 2024-25 came in a final against Avarca de Menorca. Around the same time it reached the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup, and the Supercopa de España followed in 2025. The club had also entered Champions League qualifiers, but the cup run was the deeper European campaign.

The name on the shirt has carried a sponsor at times. For a while the team played as Heidelberg Volkswagen.

The school's name is the older one. In 1991 Colegio Heidelberg set up a volleyball section, and that section is the club that now plays in the Superliga Femenina.
