Emalsa Gran Canaria W

The Gran Canaria Arena, originally the Palacio Multiusos de Gran Canaria, seats 9,870 for seated events. The club that uses it began in August 1976, when players from a team called Drago and a school side, '29 de Abril', came together under Manolo Navarro Nieto. It was legally constituted on 15 November that year.

Its promotion to the Superliga came in 2004, after it won the Liga FEB, the second tier. The first league title followed in 2020-21, when the club played as CV CCO 7 Palmas. It finished runner-up the next season. It then won the title in 2022-23 and again in 2023-24, both times as CV Hidramar Gran Canaria.

The Copa de la Reina took longer. The club had finished runner-up in 2021 and 2023 before it lifted the trophy in 2024. It also won the Supercopa de España in 2021 and 2023, and the Copa Ibérica in 2023. In the 2024 Supercopa it finished second.

The names on the shirts changed with the sponsors: Mazotti, Caja de Canarias, Hidramar and now Emalsa. The colour did not change. Yellow gives the club its nickname, "la entidad amarilla", and its players are known as jugadoras amarillas.

Local recognition has come alongside the trophies. The club received the Premio Roque Nublo Deportivo in 2022 and the Premio Jesús Telo in 2025. It now competes as CV Emalsa Gran Canaria and it holds three league titles.
