Isolation shapes the women's side of Club Voleibol Melilla more than any rival does. What the club built instead was momentum inside its own building.

The women's team climbed through Primera División Femenina, taking the title in 2022-2023, then reached the final of the Copa Princesa in both 2023 and 2024 — losing on each occasion to Barça CVB. For the 2025-2026 season the team moved up into Liga Iberdrola, the country's top flight.

Alberto Rodríguez took over as coach heading into that season, inheriting a squad built around imports: Heloisa Pereira, a Brazilian opposite, and Justyna Lukasik, a Polish central, giving the side a foreign core alongside Spanish players such as Valeria Rosado. The team plays at Pabellón Javier Imbroda Ortiz, a 3,800-seat hall in the city.

What the women's team has not yet done is win a major cup outright — both trips to the Copa Princesa final ended the same way, and the step up to Liga Iberdrola means the next test of that gap comes against clubs the side has not faced before.
