The answer came in 2012, when the team took the field at the U-23 Men's Central American Cup and won it outright. Guatemala made its debut in the NORCECA Men's U23 Pan-American Cup in 2018, as host nation in Guatemala City, and took bronze — still its best finish there.

The 2023 Central American campaign produced two individual honours: setter Daniel Ralón was named the tournament's MVP and best setter, while Jason Hernández took best blocker.

Guatemalans know the team as La Azul y Blanco , after the blue and white of the national flag, and it trains and plays its home fixtures at the Gimnasio Alfonso Gordillo — also called Gimnasio 7 de Diciembre — in the Ciudad de los Deportes sporting complex in Zone 5 of Guatemala City, the same venue that hosted the team's Pan-American Cup debut in 2018.
