Isaías Aguirre left Paramaribo in 2024 with three individual awards to his name — MVP, Best Spiker, Best Receiver — after Mexico beat Peru 3-1 in the final of the NORCECA U23 Men's Pan American Cup, and it came with Diego Ruiz named Second Best Blocker in the same tournament, under head coach Renato Soares.

The gold defended a run that began in Santo Domingo in 2021, when Mexico beat Puerto Rico 3-1 for its first Pan American Cup title.

Mexico U23 has no ground it calls its own. Training and matches move between the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Baja California in Tijuana, the Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City and CODE León in Guanajuato, depending on where the federation schedules a given camp. Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico remain the opponents Mexico measures itself against in the region.

Green, white and red, the colours of the flag, run through the Federación Mexicana de Voleibol's branding and onto the team's kit. The federation itself dates back to 1933, decades before it ever fielded an under-23 side at continental level.
