Los Quisqueyanos did not come together on their own; they exist because the NORCECA Men's Pan-American Cup U23 does. The Dominican federation, FEDOVOLI, entered a squad the year the tournament began, and the team has taken the court at every edition since, working out of Santo Domingo under the federation's own colours of blue, red and white.

The nickname reaches further back than the team itself, borrowed from Quisqueya, the Taíno name for the island the Dominican Republic shares with Haiti.

The run has not been even. Bronze came in the first three appearances the federation could claim, in 2012, 2014 and 2021, before Cuba beat them 3–0 in the 2023 final and left them with silver. Gold followed in 2025, in Guatemala City, where the Dominicans turned the final on the United States and won it 3–2. Luke Harrison Ramírez was named the tournament's most valuable player under head coach José Alexander Gutiérrez, with Adrián José Figueroa finishing as top scorer. Cuba and the United States remain the sides the Dominicans measure themselves against on the Pan-American circuit; the year in between, 2024, ended in Suriname with a fourth-place finish after a 3–2 semi-final loss to Peru.

Home matches are worked in at the Pabellón Ricardo Gioriver Arias, the national volleyball pavilion inside the Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte, which holds 4,000. It was a smaller stage that started all of it, though: a bronze medal in 2012, the year the competition itself was born.
