Häcken

The move into the city came in 1999, with a merger and a new name, and further names followed — Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC from 2005, then BK Häcken FF after the club became a subsidiary of the men's BK Häcken in January 2021.

That takeover is the hinge. The first Damallsvenskan title had arrived the season before, in 2020, after years in which the club had made the Svenska Cupen its own — 2011 and 2012 back to back, then 2019, then 2021 under the new badge. The second league title came in 2025, and the European campaign that followed ran straight out of it.

The final was an all-Swedish affair against Hammarby IF. Häcken won the home leg 3-2 and held their nerve for a 1-1 draw away, taking the tie 4-2 on aggregate. No club had won the competition before; theirs is the first name on it.

Home is the Nordic Wellness Arena, known until recently as the Bravida Arena, and it holds 6,316 — a ground on the scale of the club's origins rather than its trophy cabinet.

The sharpest edges are close to home.
