Kastela Women

Kaštel Stari sits among the string of settlements along the Kaštela bay, a stretch of the Dalmatian coast where volleyball has long competed with football for local attention, and for decades the town's answer was a women's club that kept changing its name while staying in the same hall. Founded on 6 March 1949, it went through a run of sponsor-driven identities — Kaštelanska rivijera, Dalmacijacement RMC, Cemex Dalmacijacement, plain OK Kaštela — before settling on Ribola, the name it now carries into the Croatian Superliga Women.

The town's other identity is OK Marina Kaštela, and the two share more than a postcode: the Kaštelanski derbi between them is the fixture that decides bragging rights in the bay, sharper for Ribola given how one-sided the honours list has been. Marina holds the Croatian Championship from 2017 and the Cup from a year earlier, along with the Super Cup twice over, while Ribola's role in that period has been to keep the derby alive rather than the trophy count even. History between them adds an edge that a league table alone does not explain, and older meetings against HAOK Mladost from Zagreb once carried a similar weight before the local rivalry took over as the fixture that mattered most in Kaštel Stari.

Matches are played at the Gradska sportska dvorana Kaštela, and the club's colours, white and blue, run through a set-up built more on continuity than on silverware — a side that has worn half a dozen names since 1949 but never left the town that gave it the first one.
