OK Marina Kaštela Women

The name gives away the club's roots before anything else does. Marina Kaštela grew out of a volleyball school run at the 'Knez Trpimir' elementary school, and the club carried that link through two changes of name — first OK ISS, then Marina Giričić — before settling on the one it now plays under.

Registration followed on 10 March 2000, and Kaštela has fielded a women's side in Croatian volleyball ever since. Local media and supporters still call the team Marinke, a nickname that has stuck harder than the club's various earlier titles ever did.

The 2016/17 season is the one to point to. Marina Kaštela beat HAOK Mladost to take the Superliga title, then added the Croatian Cup by getting past Osijek 3-1 in the final, and topped it off with the SuperCup — a domestic clean sweep inside a single campaign. The cup has not stayed a one-off: Kaštela won it again in 2021/22, this time seeing off local rivals OK Kaštela 3-0 in the final, a scoreline that says something about how the derby has tilted since.

Since 2018, Mladost has dominated Croatian women's volleyball, and matches against them carry more weight now than a routine league fixture — Kaštela's own title run remains the exception rather than the rule against a club that has since pulled away at the top.

The team trains and plays at the City Sports Hall in Kaštel Stari, in the blue and white the club has kept since its earliest days under different names.
