The women's side plays under a name that belongs to a club built as a members' association, a Verein with more than 1,000 people on its books. That is the structure the football grew out of in Rapperswil-Jona, and the arrangement has not changed: no professional status is claimed. The founding year is 1928.

Home is the Stadion Grünfeld , and its shape tells you what kind of ground it is. Of the 2,700 places, only 300 are seats; the rest of the crowd stands.

The team's league position has been the story of recent seasons. Rapperswil-Jona came up from the second tier and now play in the Women's Super League , the top division in Switzerland, and in 2024 they held on to that place by beating Wil 5-1 in the match that decided it.

German-language coverage sometimes files them as the Zürcher Oberländerinnen , which is geography rather than a nickname. The club has never adopted one. Black, pink and white are the colours on the badge.
