Brno keeps most of its volleyball ambition in one building on Kounicova street, and the reserve side of VK Šelmy Brno is where that ambition gets its first test. The senior club took shape in 2018, picking up the city's volleyball line from Volejbal Brno, and the B team was entered into the Czech second division from that first season onward.

There is no trophy cabinet to speak of for the reserve team, and that is not an oversight. While the first team has pushed as far as the Final Four of the Chance Czech Cup, the B side works through the second tier.

The senior club's derby against VK Královo Pole draws the city's attention across town; the reserve team plays in its shadow, in the yellow and black that both sides of the club share, at Hala Kounicova. The hall holds 500.
