Reto Giger took the captaincy in 2013.
The team plays under the nickname "Nati," short for Nationalmannschaft, and answers to Swiss Volley, which also acts as the sport's governing body in the country. It has no single ground to call its own: qualifiers and friendlies move between Halle St-Léonard in Fribourg and halls in Aarau and St. Gallen, while the Betoncoupe Arena in Schönenwerd works as the training base where the squad is actually built between matches.
Swiss Volley itself was registered on 22 February 1958, in Fribourg, under the original name of the Swiss Volleyball Association.
