Las Piedras grew up around the railway junction north of Montevideo, a working town in Canelones where cotton mills once set the rhythm of the week. One of those mills, Ildu, put its name on a football club before the club had much else to its name — Club Atlético Ildu, formed on 24 December 1935. By June 1947 the members had pulled sport away from the company and from local politics alike, choosing Juventud instead, and the name has held since.

The ground came a year before that renaming: the Ministry of Agriculture handed over land in Parque Artigas in July 1946, and Estadio Municipal Parque Artigas has been home ever since, its capacity now put at 10,000 after a 2012 refit. Juventud have never reached a Primera División title or lifted the Uruguayan Cup, and their honours read as a lower-division record — Tercera División in 1995, Segunda División in 1999, the Clausura of the second tier in 2007. In 2023 the club lost a relegation play-off to Rampla Juniors, a night that ended in crowd trouble rather than a clean result; a year later they were beaten 2-0 by Montevideo City Torque in the Torneo Competencia final.

What Las Piedras talks about more than any trophy is who the club has sent out and who has come back. Martín Cáceres left as a teenager for Barcelona, then Juventus, then Sevilla, and returned to Juventud for the 2025/2026 season — a defender the town watched grow up before Europe ever saw him.
