Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, an Indonesian international, spent the 2025–26 season in the green and white of Manisa.

The volleyball team is young even by the standards of its own organisation. Manisa Büyükşehir Belediyespor began in 1994 as Manisa Belediyespor, a municipal multi-sport club. It took its present name in 2014, when the city was upgraded to metropolitan status. The women's volleyball section became a separate branch only in 2022. Promotion to the 1st League had come once before, in 2014–15, and an American international, Channon Thompson, played for the club in 2015–16.

Home games are played at the Muradiye Spor Salonu in the Yunusemre district, a multi-purpose hall that holds around 3,500. The nearest opposition of any weight is across the region in Izmir, where Arkas Spor are regarded as the fiercest rivals.

The club has won neither the Sultanlar Ligi nor the Turkish Cup. Lorenne Teixeira, a Brazilian who won Olympic bronze, joined in 2026. So did Ivana Vanjak, a German international. They arrive for a season in which Manisa are still learning the league they earned their place in.
