Union Omaha

Morrison Stadium sits on Creighton University's campus, built in 2003 as the Bluejays' own soccer field and expanded a year later; from 2026 it becomes Union Omaha's home after six seasons at Werner Park, a ballpark the club had borrowed because Nebraska had no purpose-built ground of its own to offer a football team.

There had never been a professional football club in the state before this one. Union Omaha was awarded as an expansion franchise on 1 May 2019, with the name and crest unveiled that October, and it entered USL League One for the 2020 season with no local precedent to measure itself against. The closest it came to an opening statement was denied it: the 2020 final was cancelled outright after a COVID-19 outbreak, leaving the club a finalist by forfeit rather than result.

It answered in 2021, beating Greenville Triumph SC 3–0 in the final under Jay Mims, who left in 2022 as the first coach in the league to have knocked out an MLS side in the U.S. Open Cup. Dominic Casciato took over in 2023, won the Players' Shield in his first season in charge, and added a second championship in 2024 with an identical 3–0 win, this time over Spokane Velocity FC. Vincenzo Candela has held the post since 2025.

Rashid Nuhu has been the constant behind that run, in goal since 2020 and twice the league's Golden Glove winner; his brother Razak Nuhu was capped for Ghana. The squad has otherwise leaned on MLS experience passed down rather than built up — Luis Gil and Conor Doyle both arrived with U.S. national team caps already on their record, Doyle wearing the captain's armband from 2021 to 2023.

Three Players' Shields, two league titles: in six seasons in USL League One, Union Omaha has finished top of the regular-season table more often than not.
