FIBA Asia Cup Women 2025/26

FIBA Women's Asia Cup is the premier international women's basketball championship for the Asian continent, organized by FIBA Asia. The tournament distinguishes itself from other regional competitions by its unique bi-continental structure. This merger effectively dissolved the separate FIBA Women's Oceania Championship, making the Asia Cup the only active continental tournament to include Oceanian nations as full participants. In 2017, significant reforms were implemented following a shift to a four-year cycle synchronized with the World Cup. Crucially, this reform included the integration of teams from FIBA Oceania, specifically Australia and New Zealand, into Division A. The current format features Division A with eight teams, split into two groups of four, followed by knockout rounds and classification games. Promotion and relegation exist between Division A and Division B, where the last-place team in Division A is relegated and the winner of Division B is promoted. The competition sits at the top tier of the continental basketball pyramid for women, serving as the primary qualification pathway for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup and the Olympic Games. Following the inclusion of Australia, the competitive landscape shifted. Australia won its first title in the 2025 edition held in Shenzhen, China, by defeating Japan. Historically, Japan dominated the modern era between 2013 and 2021 with six consecutive titles. Prior to 2017, South Korea and China are tied for the most titles with 12 each. The tournament features national teams such as Australia Women, China Women, Indonesia Women, Japan Women, Lebanon Women, and New Zealand Women participating in the current season.
