Szolnok Olajbank beat Kormend Egis 103-74 in NB I A on Friday evening, extending their grip on the top of the table. The hosts, already sitting first with 26 games played, made it look simple against the visitors who had struggled all season long.
By then the gap was already showing sign of widening. Szolnok had lost three of their last five, including a heavy defeat to Зелёна-Гура, but came back with something to prove. Kormend, meanwhile, had taken just one win in their previous six outings across all competitions.
We had called for the home side at 69 per cent confidence before kick-off, and the result vindicated that call. Not that it was ever in doubt — Szolnok's home record speaks for itself, and Kormend have not travelled to make up the numbers in recent weeks.
The scoreboard tells one story, but the numbers behind it tell another. Szolnok shot from distance with more authority, while Kormend's attempts came from areas where they rarely score. It was not a tight game at any point, and the visitors never really found their rhythm.
That puts Szolnok nine points clear at the summit now, with three games still to play. Kormend sit ninth, 15 losses already on the board, and the season running out of games for any kind of meaningful finish.
