Alvik Women

The website that carries the Alvik Basket name today is in green and yellow. The women's side has a different history. From 1996 to 2012 it played under a different name altogether, 08 Stockholm Human Rights, and it was under that name, not the club's own, that it won the Swedish title, in 2003, 2007 and 2010.

Alviks Basketbollklubb itself goes back to 1956, founded by Erik Bremer and Knut Simonsson in the Alvik district of Bromma. The men's senior team folded in 1996, the same year the women's side stepped outside the club's name for its most successful stretch. What returned afterwards as Alvik Basket carries that lineage.

Within the wider club there is also Blixtarna, a team for players with intellectual disabilities set up in 2006 — a separate story from the senior women's side, but one that sits under the same green and yellow.
