Ostersund Women

Promotion had come the previous year, in 2016, after the team won a qualification series against IK Eos and reached Basketligan for the first time.

The section traces back further than that date suggests. It was folded into the parent club, then still competing under the Jämtland Basket name, in the 2013/14 season — a name the organisation had carried since 1998, when it re-formed after bankruptcy. The original club dated to 1956.

Östersunds sporthall, opened in November 1968, gives the team 1,700 seats, 1,400 of them the kind you sit in rather than stand at; a 2016 renovation brought it up to the standard the top flight expects. No SM-guld and no Svenska cupen sit in the club's history yet. What there is instead, this season, is a squad that finished fourth in the regular table and pushed on to the semi-finals.
