Ettelbruck

Church parish football clubs were the model most Luxembourg towns knew in the early twentieth century, and basketball in Ettelbruck followed the same path: the team began life as Association Sportive Catholique Ettelbruck before taking the Etzella name, one of the oldest basketball clubs in the country by the time it settled into its current form in 1934.

What Etzella built afterward has no equal in Luxembourg basketball. The men's side has taken the national championship fifteen times and the domestic cup twenty-four times, spread across decades rather than one golden generation — the run started in the 1950s, returned through the 1960s and 1970s, and resurfaced as late as 2019, when the club took both trophies in the same season.

Recent form has been less kind: the club reached the 2025 Luxembourg Cup final and lost to Basket Esch. Home matches are still played in Ettelbruck, at the Hall Omnisports Frankie Hansen.
