Larochette

February 2026 ended a wait fifty-six years old. BBC Arantia Larochette beat Etzella Ettelbruck 87–83 in the final of the Luxembourg Cup, and the last time the club had lifted that trophy was 1970, the year it also earned a place in the FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup.

The name carries the place with it. Arantia is a Celtic word for the White Ernz, the river that runs white with trout past the nearby village of Fiels, and red and white have stayed the club's colours since. The club itself dates to 1964.

The Total League title has stayed out of reach; Larochette has reached the semi-finals and championship series in recent years without going further. The Cup has been kinder, with domestic tournament wins recorded in 2022, 2024 and 2025 alongside the historic run. No fixture on the calendar carries a name of its own, but matches against Sparta Bertrange, Etzella Ettelbruck, T71 Dudelange and Amicale Steinsel are the ones that decide where a season goes.

American forward Duane Johnson spent two seasons at the club from 2020, named the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. But the name attached longest to Arantia is Rui Nunes, who helped found the senior side and still works in the game today as a FIBA-licensed agent.
