Hercegovac

Stojan Dangubić brought the name back in 2018/2019. Hercegovac had first been formed in Gajdobra on 24 October 1978 by a group led by Professor Radivoje Pudar; it folded around 2001/2002 when the money ran out. The village never stopped being what it was, though: its people descend from settlers from Nevesinje, Trebinje and Bileća who arrived from Herzegovina after the Second World War, which is why the team plays as "Hercegovci".

What happened after the refounding has its own name in Serbian basketball writing: Slučaj Gajdobra, the Gajdobra Case. A club starting from the fifth tier won the Vojvodina Summer League in 2019, took the North Division of the First Regional League in 2020–21, and by 2023–24 was Vice-Champion of the Second League of Serbia — promotion to the Košarkaška liga Srbije, the country's top flight, arrived with it. The same season brought the League Cup of Serbia. In its first top-division campaign, 2024/25, Hercegovac finished third, a result that put it into the Second ABA League, and reached the final four of the Radivoj Korać Cup before losing to Partizan 92:67.

The team plays in blue and white in front of 800 seats at the Gajdobra Sports Center, in a village known locally as the Serbian Sorbonne for how many academics it has produced relative to its size. None of that explains a basketball club rising four divisions in five years.
