KCC Egis

The franchise arrived in 2023 carrying a history none of it built locally.

What travelled with the move to Busan was a championship habit rather than a settled identity. KCC has won the KBL title seven times, and the two most recent wins bookend the relocation itself — the 2023-24 season, closed out 4-1 against Suwon KT Sonicboom with Heo Ung named Finals MVP, and the 2025-26 title, taken by the same 4-1 scoreline over Goyang Sono Skygunners. A KBL Cup followed in 2023, beaten out against Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus.

The nickname Lion King predates none of this upheaval and survived it anyway, still worn in navy, gold and white. Rivalries have had to be renegotiated along with the address: the long-standing needle with Seoul Samsung Thunders remains the marquee fixture, but the Suwon KT Sonicboom finals produced something sharper and more immediate, a Busan Derby that means more to supporters who have only recently had a team to call their own.

The 14,099 seats at Busan Sajik Gymnasium now fill for a club still working out what it means to belong to this city rather than simply play in it.
