Suwon KT Sonicboom enter the season with the goal of winning a KBL championship, a title that has eluded the franchise across three decades. The club reached the finals as recently as 2023–24, losing to Busan KCC Egis, and has now gone from 1997 to the present without lifting the title.

The franchise took its current name in 2021, when the team moved from Busan to Suwon, but the roster of names behind it runs far longer — Gwangju Nasan Flamans at the founding, then stops as the Goldbank Clickers, the Korea Tender Prumi and the KTF Magic Wings before settling under KT.

The closest the club has come to a title was 2006–07, as Busan KTF Magic Wings, when it lost the final to Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus. Heo Hoon's MVP season followed in 2019–20.

The club now competes in the KBL, the KBL Cup and the East Asia Super League.
