Limerick

Limerick basketball goes by two names, and they do not share colours. The Sport Eagles play in blue and white, the Celtics in green and white.

In 2012 they won the Irish National League, the Super League, and the Irish National Cup in the same year. The league title came again in 2013.

Their home is the UL Sport Arena, on the University of Limerick campus in Castletroy. It is also called the University Arena or the ULArena, and it holds 2,500. The building belongs to a university, and the club's earlier name, UL Eagles, points to the same campus.

The Eagles have also played outside Ireland, in the EuroBasketballCup.

The Eagles' line runs back through UL Eagles to the Limerick Lions, founded in 2004. The club's web address still reads limericklions.com.
