UCC Demons

Blue Demons entered the National League at its start and won the inaugural title. It had come out of the DePaul Boys Club, opened in 1959, and on 8 February 1966 Jim Dineen, Noel McCarthy and Michael O'Sullivan gave it its own name and structure.

It returned in 2003, the year after the club partnered with University College Cork and became UCC Demons .

The strongest stretch came in the middle of the 2010s. Lehmon Colbert, an American import, was named Irish League Player of the Year in 2016. Colin O'Reilly was then player-coach, and he later became head coach of the Irish national team. Kyle Hosford, an Irish international, captains the current side under head coach Danny O'Sullivan.

Then the club stopped. It withdrew from the Super League in 2019 and did not play at the top level again until it was revived in 2021. The rivalry with Energywise Ireland Neptune, known as the Cork derby and sometimes as Cork basketball's Old Firm, resumed with the return. Home games are at the Mardyke Arena, which holds 1,200.
