Dominique Allen was named most valuable player of the 2017 Women's British Basketball League (WBBL) Cup final, in which Manchester beat Nottingham Wildcats 71-60 at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham. It was the first WBBL Cup title. The club, then called Manchester Mystics, has not won a league championship.

The Mystics were formed in 1997 as part of the Manchester Magic and Mystics organisation, founded by Joe and Maggie Forber. The men's side, Manchester Giants, did not exist until 2011 and joined the British Basketball League (BBL) in 2012. It took that name in 2023, when the Sherwood Family Investment Office became the owner. The league it plays in has changed too: the WBBL is now Super League Basketball.

Nottingham, the opponent in the 2017 final, is also the club's most persistent rival. Leicester Riders and Sheffield Hatters complete the list of teams Manchester meet with no love lost.

Home games are played at the National Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue Sports Village.
