Kumasi belongs first to Asante Kotoko. The club's owners, Divine Kyei Boadu and Paul Kyei Baffour, are sons of Dr. Nations are based just outside the city, in Bekwai, and the meetings between them at Dr. Kwame Kyei Park draw the kind of gate money a lower-table club in the Ghana Premier League rarely sees elsewhere.
The academy behind the club dates to 1996, working under the name Bekwai Youth Football Academy. The rebrand to Nations FC came in 2022, and promotion followed within a year: the Ghana Division One League, Zone Two, won in the 2022/23 season under Johnson Smith, put the club into the top flight for the first time.
That something arrived in the MTN FA Cup: a final against Dreams FC that finished 1-1 and went to penalties, won 5-4. A runners-up finish in the Ghana Super Cup, lost to Medeama SC, followed soon after.
