Politehnica Timisoara Women

Dan Ionescu took charge of a roster built almost entirely from local youth ranks. Names such as Ioana Livia Albu and Anastasia Semenciuc did not arrive from elsewhere; they came up through the city's own basketball pipeline.

The section itself only appeared in 2024, carrying the Politehnica name into a sport the university club had not fielded before, and it made its Liga I debut the following season. It is not a continuation of SCM Timișoara, the women's team that reached the top flight before folding in 2018 — a separate line, even if the city's basketball memory reaches further back, to a runners-up finish in 1978–79 under the old Universitatea Timișoara banner.

Home games are played in front of 1,400 seats at the Constantin Jude Sports Hall, in white and violet — colours that earned the squad its nickname, Alb-violetele.

No major honours sit behind this group yet. For now, the task in front of Ionescu and his players is simpler: establish themselves in Liga I.
