Quezon Huskers reached the MPBL National Finals in successive years without lifting the trophy, and 2025 came down to a single point: Game 1 of the series against Abra Solid North Weavers went to overtime and finished 81-80, and the Weavers closed the series out from there. A season earlier the Huskers had also finished runners-up, so the closest they have come to a national title outside the league is the 2024 PSL President's Cup, won by beating Nueva Ecija Capitals.

The franchise carries an older name inside it. Before it was the Huskers, it played the United Regional Basketball League in 2004 and 2005 as the Quezon Coco Huskers, a name built on Quezon Province's reputation as the country's coconut capital. The provincial government revived the team as an MPBL expansion side in 2023, with Governor Angelina Tan credited for putting it back on the floor.

South Division form has come easily by comparison: the Huskers have taken that title in both 2024 and 2025, with Batangas City Tanduay Rum Masters the team standing in the way most often, including in the 2024 division finals. Individually, L-Jay Gonzales was named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2024 and made the All-MPBL First Team, while Mark Alcala, the Mayor of Lucena City, has played on through an All-Star selection in 2023.

Two national final defeats in a row leave the Huskers still chasing the one title that has eluded them, with the division form to suggest another shot is not far off.
