«Rubon Youth»
Vitebsk stands on the Western Dvina, and its basketball club took its present name from the river's ancient Slavic name, Rubon. The name came in 2011. Before that the team had gone by Shikom-Lokomotiv, then Lokomotiv, then Lokomotiv-KiS, and each name reflected who was backing it at the time. The club was founded in the summer of 1995 with money from Evgeny Sharyakov and his firm Shikom.
Rubon II, also called Rubon-2 or Rubon Youth, is the reserve side of that club. It was registered for the 2013/2014 season and went straight into the Belarusian First League, the second tier, where it finished fourth. In October 2014 the club announced that both the main squad and the reserve would play in the national championship. The reserve team now plays in the Higher League.
The players work in the indoor hall of the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex (CSK Vitebsky) on Lyudnikova Avenue. It holds about 330 spectators for basketball. The colours are yellow and green.
It won silver medals in the Belarusian championship in 1997/1998 and 2003/2004, and bronze in 2004/2005. The most recent medal came in 2024/25: third place in the regular season, a run to the semi-finals, and bronze. Ruslan Boydakov has coached the club since 2009. The first coach, in 1995, was Dmitry Rybakov.
