Akinlolu Richard Olamide Famewo

Akin Famewo was part of the Sheffield Wednesday squad that won the League One play-offs in 2022/23 and went up to the Championship. Injury kept him out of the final. He had joined the club the previous July for a reported fee of around £50,000 plus add-ons, and he made 73 appearances for them, scoring once, before his contract ran out in June 2025.

The left-footed centre-back came through the academy at Luton Town, where he signed his first professional contract in July 2016. He was in the squad that won the League Two title in 2017–18. Senior football came in small amounts: 14 appearances for Luton in total, including 12 in League Two on loan at Grimsby Town between July 2018 and January 2019. Norwich City signed him that month, reportedly for £50,000 to £60,000.

Norwich did not use him in the first team; they sent him out on loan twice. At St Mirren in the first half of 2020 he played 13 times, nine in the Scottish Premiership and four in the Scottish Cup, before the pandemic halted the season. At Charlton Athletic, from September 2020 to June 2022, he made 62 appearances, 22 in 2020/21 and 40 in 2021/22, and scored one goal. That spell gave him the regular football he needed before the move to Sheffield.

Famewo signed for Hull City on a free transfer in July 2025. He made 17 appearances and scored once as Hull won promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs in 2025/26. In July 2026 he joined Bolton Wanderers on a three-year deal.

He holds English and Nigerian citizenship and has not played senior international football for either country.
