About the player
Alex Szabó spent five years at Kecskeméti TE and played 144 league matches for the club. Those matches came in both the NB I and the NB II, and the total includes the season in which Kecskemét were relegated. He scored seven goals in that time. He was a regular starter throughout, and he also played four times in the Hungarian Cup in 2025–26.
He arrived there in 2021 as a free agent, having left Kaposvári Rákóczi, where he had come through the youth academy after joining in 2014. He made his senior debut at Kaposvár, and in 2017–18 the team won the Nemzeti Bajnokság III. He made around 70 league appearances for Kaposvár and scored once.
His contract at Kecskemét expired in July 2026 and he moved on without a fee. He signed for Csíkszereda, a step from Hungarian football into the Romanian Liga I. By September he had played seven league matches and one cup match for the club.
For Hungary he has played at Under-21 level. He made at least three appearances in qualifying for the 2024 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, and he started against Scotland and against Belgium.
