Carlos Junior Huerto Saavedra

Junior Huerto came through the ranks at Universidad San Martín de Porres, joining the club in 2016 and staying until 2019 before a move to Sporting Cristal in 2020. He won the Peruvian Primera División title with Sporting Cristal that same year, though his role in the triumph was limited to a supporting one: nine appearances in all, eight of them in the league and one in the Copa Libertadores.

The years that followed brought a string of loan spells away from Sporting Cristal, first back to Universidad San Martín in 2021, then to Sport Boys and Academia Deportiva Cantolao. Huerto returned to Universidad San Martín in 2024 for a short stint before dropping into the Copa Perú with Unión Santo Domingo. A move to Deportivo Coopsol in the Peruvian Liga 2 followed at the start of 2025, though he never made an official debut for the club.

In June 2025, Huerto crossed the Atlantic — in football terms, at least — to sign for Atlante in Mexico's Liga de Expansión MX, where he featured in friendly fixtures including the Copa Morelos. He has since joined UTC for the 2026 season.

At international level, Huerto's honours came early. He was part of the Peru squad that won gold at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games with the under-15 side, and went on to represent the under-17s at the 2015 South American Championship. He later earned caps for the under-20 side, including at the 2019 South American U-20 Championship, and represented Peru's under-23 team at the Pan American Games that year. He has not been capped by the senior national team.
