E. Østbø

Arild Østbø was part of the Viking squad that won the Eliteserien in 2025, the club's first league title since 1991. The goalkeeper made 12 appearances in that season, a return to the club that had first brought him through its academy.

Østbø started out at Buøy IL and left at 12 to join Viking's youth system. His senior debut came early: on 12 May 2008, as a substitute in the Norwegian Cup against Vidar. His league debut followed on 4 October 2010, against Strømsgodset.

The years after that were spent largely away from first-team football at Viking. He went out on loan to Sandnes Ulf, where the spell was ended early, then to IK Start in 2012 for seven appearances and to Strømmen in 2013 for 20. In November 2015 he left Viking on a free transfer for Sarpsborg 08, where he played 13 times in 2016.

The move that changed his career came in January 2017, when he joined Rosenborg. He was there for a run of trophies: the Eliteserien in 2017 and 2018, the Norwegian Cup in 2018, and the Super Cup in both of those years. He made 10 league appearances over that period.

In January 2020 he came back to Viking, again on a free transfer, and has stayed since; his contract now runs through 2026. He has represented Norway at youth levels from under-15 up to under-23 but has not won a senior cap.
