F. Delap

Finn Delap grew up in a footballing household: his father, Rory, played for the Republic of Ireland, and his older brother Liam is a striker. Finn, though, is a centre-back, and the path he has taken owes little to either of them.

He started out in the youth system at Derby County and moved to Burton Albion in July 2021, signing a scholarship there. His first professional contract followed in June 2023, and a further one in June 2025.

Burton did not rush him into the first team. Instead they sent him out on loan to non-league sides, a route that gave him regular senior football while still a teenager. At Ilkeston Town in 2022–23 he played 24 times and scored once. A season at Mickleover followed, with 22 appearances. In the spring of 2024 he spent time at Woking, where he played three games, and from September to December that year he played eight for Buxton.

His debut for Burton came on 10 February 2024, in the middle of those loan spells. He came off the bench in a League One match away to Bristol Rovers, which Burton won 2–1. He has since made 25 appearances for the club in all competitions and scored twice.

His sister, Neve, plays netball and athletics, so sport runs through the whole family.
