About the player
Jack Armer was released by Preston North End, the club he had joined as a boy in 2008, without a league appearance for the first team. He turned professional there in May 2019 and spent part of the 2019–20 season on loan at Lancaster City, where he played 23 times and scored once. In August 2020 he signed for Carlisle United on a free transfer.
Carlisle is where his career took shape. Armer became a regular starter and made 152 league appearances between 2020 and July 2024, scoring four goals. Both a left-back and a centre-back, he was left-footed. In 2023 Carlisle beat Stockport County in the League Two play-offs to win promotion to League One. WhoScored ranked him highly for the 2021–22 season.
He moved to Burton Albion in July 2024 on a two-year contract with an option for a further season. No fee was made public.
Armer was born in Preston, but he qualifies for Scotland through his mother. He has not yet been capped at senior level.
