George Evans

George Evans went through the Manchester City academy from under-8s to the senior squad, something only Chris Chantler had done at the club before him. He is also the son of Ronnie Evans, who played for City and later worked as a physio there. His first-team debut came in the League Cup in September 2015. He never made a competitive league appearance for City.

Regular football came on loan. Crewe Alexandra took him in 2013–14, followed by Scunthorpe United and Walsall, and the Walsall spell ran into the 2015–16 season. In January 2016 Reading signed him on a three-and-a-half-year deal, reportedly for between £1m and £1.5m. Derby County paid a reported £1m for him in July 2018, and he moved on to Millwall in February 2021.

The Wrexham chapter began in September 2023, when he arrived on a free transfer. He was in the squad that finished second in League Two in 2023–24 and second in League One a year later, which brought back-to-back promotions.

Evans signed for Burton Albion in September 2025, again on a free, with a one-year deal and an option for a second. In 2025–26 he played 33 League One games, scored twice and set up four goals. One of his goals came against Reading, a club he left in 2018.

He has no senior England caps. At youth level he won four with the under-17s in 2011 and one with the under-19s in 2012.
