About the player
Georgi Minchev scored a hat-trick for Tsarsko Selo against Botev Vratsa on 27 May 2017, while still on the books at CSKA Sofia.
He came through the Litex Lovech academy, which he joined in 2008 after starting at Ariston Ruse. The youth sides there were successful: Litex won the Bulgarian U17 title in 2010/11 and the U19 title in 2012/13 and 2013/14. In 2014–15 he finished as top scorer in the Bulgarian U21 League with 18 goals, and by then he was part of the senior squad.
In 2016 he joined CSKA Sofia on a free transfer, and a loan to Tsarsko Selo for 2017–2018 followed. The move became permanent in June 2018, and he stayed until 2020. That summer he went to Lokomotiv Plovdiv, again on a free transfer, and won the Bulgarian Supercup in his first season. He came on as a substitute in the 1–0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad.
He moved to Riga FC in 2022 and won the Latvian Cup that year, and he was loaned to FK Auda during the same spell. He returned to Lokomotiv Plovdiv in 2023, then played for AEL Limassol, Ümraniyespor and Manisa FK before signing for Lokomotiv Sofia in 2025.
Minchev made his Bulgaria debut on 1 June 2021. He has scored once, against Gibraltar in the 2022–23 UEFA Nations League.
