Ignacio Luis Barrios Hernández

Ignacio Barrios came through the youth system at Defensor Sporting and made his professional debut in the Copa Sudamericana in June 2012, launching a career built almost entirely on movement between clubs rather than long spells at one. Over the following years he passed through Juventud de Las Piedras, Huracán, Plaza Colonia, Villa Española, Montevideo City Torque and Cerrito, none of them long-term homes, before leaving Uruguay altogether in 2020.

That move took him to Alianza Atlético in Peru, where he was part of the squad that won promotion to Liga 1. It marked the beginning of a second, Peru-based phase of his career that has continued ever since, taking in spells at Asociación Deportiva Tarma between 2022 and 2023 and Unión Comercio in 2024, a season that ended in relegation for the club. In 2025 he joined Cienciano before moving on to UTC de Cajamarca.

At UTC he wears the number 29 and has been given the captain's armband, a role that marks a shift from the itinerant early years of his career towards a more settled position of responsibility within a squad. He has not been capped by Uruguay's senior national team, and his path has been defined less by individual recognition than by steady, unglamorous service across a long list of clubs on both sides of the River Plate and the Pacific.
