Ian Jakob Hoffmann

Ian Hoffmann has represented two national teams at youth level and has not yet played a senior international for either. He has appeared for the United States at under-16, under-18 and under-20 levels, and for Germany at under-17 and under-18 levels, with eligibility for both countries coming through his grandparents.

His route into professional football ran through Europe early. He started out with Everton FC Westchester, Beachside SC and the New York Red Bulls, then moved across the Atlantic in 2015 to join the academy of 1. FC Köln. A year later he switched to Karlsruher SC, where he stayed until 2020 before returning to the United States for his first senior contract at Rio Grande Valley FC.

Houston Dynamo followed, and he spent a loan spell at Orange County SC in 2022. The step that shaped the rest of his career came in 2023, when he moved to Norway and joined Moss FK. Across two seasons there he played 41 league matches and scored four goals, a return that brought him to the attention of Lech Poznań.

Lech Poznań signed him in August 2024 for a base fee of €200,000 plus bonuses. The club won the Ekstraklasa in 2024/25, though Hoffmann played only two league games for the first team that season. Playing time came instead on loan: he went to Kristiansund BK in 2025 and to Hamarkameratene in early 2026, returning to Norwegian football both times.

In July 2026 he joined Mjällby AIF on loan for the rest of the season.
