About the player

Ibrahima Sissoko came through the youth ranks at CS Meaux and US Torcy before Stade Brestois 29 took him on in 2014. He made his senior debut for Brest in Ligue 2 in 2016, having also turned out for the club's reserve side, and by June 2018 Strasbourg had seen enough to sign him for a fee reported at around €2 million. He stayed at RC Strasbourg Alsace for six seasons.

In June 2024 Sissoko moved to Germany on a free transfer, joining VfL Bochum on a three-year deal. Bochum's campaign still ended in relegation to the 2. Bundesliga in 2025, and in January 2026 Sissoko left for FC Nantes in a €2 million deal, signing until 2028.

Sissoko's international path took an unusual turn. Having represented France at youth level right through from Under-18 to Under-21, collecting 18 caps and a goal, he later switched allegiance to Mali, making his senior debut for the country in 2023. He has since won four caps and was named in Mali's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
