About the player
Louis Leroux is a product of the region he still plays for. Raised in Le Longeron, he came through AS Longeron until 2020, when a period of special dispensation over distance rules cleared the way for him to join Nantes' academy at La Jonelière. He worked through the club's youth ranks, took the Championnat National U19 title in the 2022–23 season and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League in 2024.
The step up came on 31 August 2024, when he made his professional debut in a 3–1 Ligue 1 win over Montpellier. Nantes moved to tie him down that October, signing him to a contract running to 2028. His first senior goal followed on 2 March 2025, in a 3–1 victory against Lens.
Leroux's form has carried into the France youth setup. With the France U20 side, he won the 2025 Maurice Revello Tournament, scoring in the semi-final against Mexico, and was named the competition's third-best player. He has since been capped at U21 level, scoring against Serbia U21.
The clearest sign of how his stock has risen came from outside the club: Monaco reportedly tabled a €20 million offer for him in 2025, which Nantes turned down.
