Joseph David Day

Day started out in Crystal Palace's academy before dropping into non-league football with Rushden & Diamonds, where his senior career began. He made 33 league appearances there, with loan spells at Brackley Town and Harrow Borough along the way. A move to Peterborough United followed, though first-team opportunities were limited to four league games, interrupted by loans at Alfreton Town, Eastbourne Borough and Newport County.

It was at Newport County that Day established himself. He signed permanently in December 2014 for an undisclosed fee reported as a club record at the time, and went on to make 197 league appearances there before leaving in 2019. A free transfer took him to Cardiff City, though he made only one league appearance for the club, spending most of his time out on loan at AFC Wimbledon and Bristol Rovers. He was named EFL League Two Player of the Month in April 2019, recognition earned during his Newport years.

Day returned to Newport County in June 2021 on a three-year contract, adding 55 more league appearances along with loan spells at Woking and Yeovil Town. It was during the Yeovil loan that he won the National League South title in the 2023–24 season. Earlier in his career, he had also been part of the Peterborough United squad that won the EFL Trophy in 2013–14, though he did not play in the final.

In July 2024, Day joined Cheltenham Town as a player-goalkeeping coach and signed a new two-year contract with the club in July 2025.
