Ryan Broom

Ryan Broom was born in Newport and came through the Bristol Rovers youth academy, making his professional debut in 2015. He left on a free transfer to Cheltenham Town in May 2018. In the 2019–20 season he was named Player of the Year, sweeping the Mira Showers' Player of the Year, Norwegian Robins' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards. Cheltenham reached the League Two play-off semi-finals that season, and Broom scored in the first leg against Northampton Town.

His form took him to Peterborough United for a reported fee of £200,000 in August 2020. Loan spells followed at Burton Albion and then Plymouth Argyle. He returned to Cheltenham on a free transfer in September 2022, adding to a scoring record that, across his two spells at the club, reads 10 goals in 73 league appearances the first time round and two in 40 the second. A move to Fleetwood Town followed, where he added four goals in 63 league games, before he rejoined Cheltenham once more on a free transfer, signing a one-year contract.

Broom's international story has stayed just short of a breakthrough. He won 14 caps for Wales at Under-19 level and, in March 2024, was included in the senior Wales squad for a friendly against Denmark, though he has not yet added a senior cap to his name.
